My dad and I finally found a couple of hours to work on the 126p. We didn't get that much done, but at least it was fun.
We pulled out the rear bench to gain access to the fuel inlet from the back.
Taking off the upholstery on both sides of the bench was a bitch though. Those damn plastic clips are flippin' nasty.
I also inspected the seatbelt mechanism. It's loud and rattly when the belt is being pulled out. It doesn't seem like there's anything i can do about that.
Incidentally, I discovered that the mechanism is attached to a thin piece of metal. I kinda expected that bit to be much more solid.
The alternator drive belt was in a horrible shape.
This car has a pretty annoying system for changing those belts. you unscrew 3 bolts on the inside of the wheel and it splits in half.
Then you use those large washers to 'spread' the wheel under the new belt. The more washers you put inside the wheel the looser the belt will be. We ended up using all of them save for the thinnest one.
I'd like to thank you guys for making belts for the 126p. :P (Note the Made in USA label)
We actually ended up putting in a different belt (Bosch one) and will use the one pictured above as a spare.
We ended up taking the rear lid off completely to make access easier.
It's held on with just one nut.
While my dad was finishing up the belt I attacked the car's light fixtures.
(Gaaah! They took my eyes!)
They were all installed using completely wrong screws which made taking them off a much bigger job than it should be. The left taillight was also cracked. We glued it back together, but we'll probably end up ordering new lights all around anyway.
In the end we installed new front indicators and called it a day.

Maluch! Have you seen the video of the one rigged up to drive backwards with four wheel steering?

Yup. I'm not planning to do anything crazy with mine though.
